April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She started piano and guitar lessons in the 7th grade, which ignited curiosity. April Lockhart composed her first single, Different at the age 12 years old. At the age of 14 April spent a lot of her day singing and writing songs. Then she began to take trips to write with father, who lived in NY and LA. April featured other topics in her hit song, Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled with issues such as peer pressure issues or even teenage suicide thoughts. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned Clean Beauty company Ilia. The truth is that she was born with no left hand. This is what makes her different. It's not the only thing about her. Lockhart acknowledges her handicap on Instagram, but she doesn't make it the focus of her story. What message does it convey? There is more to us than our physical selves. The identities we have are complex and we contain many different elements. Lockhart speaks through video from Nashville. "I don't wish for it to dictate my life. I'm not looking to only be recognized as an expert in disabilities. My day-today life is not directly affected by disability. I go about my regular daily life, and come up with my own solutions to issues. But it's also a part of me, so I believe it's important to talk about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart truly inspires me in this regard. She still admits having gone through a few phases in her body, and felt insecure at times to wear clothes that showed the arms of her. Today, she wears anything she likes and uploads photos in those outfits to social media, she is proud of herself. She says that self-love is a process. It's not clear if you'll ever reach the final stage. It's a fact that I see for everyone, whatever the source of their anxiety. People you associate yourself with, who know your personal story and who can look into your heart are the ones you should be relying on to remind you of what you're worrying about.
