Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 1988) is an American actress, singer and dancer. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout the course of her professional career. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently in production on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be released in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford returns to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford's last role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford starred for two seasons in CBS popular comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Additional Broadway performances for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned an Tony Award nomination. Ashford is an Denver origins native, and now splits his time between Los Angeles.
